40 Days For Life - Prayers Day 36 to Day 40
Day 36
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12: 21
Dear Lord, today I lift before you Leroy Carhart and his colleagues who perform late-term abortions. He does not know your truth. Believing a lie, he has spread deception and death through his words and deeds. I pray for your truth to invade his life and the lives of other abortionists. You have us all surrounded, Lord! Your truth will win in the end. Build my confidence in you, and help me to not only see you at work but to be part of the work you are doing. Amen.
Day 37
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43: 19
Lord, forgive me of my sins and give me the strength to repent, accept your forgiveness, and work to amend this world. As the world finds new ways to sin against life, remind me that there is no heart you can’t turn and no conscience you can’t penetrate. Help me to bring your joy and love into the wasteland so that life may be restored. I ask this through Christ our Lord, amen.
Day 38
Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty? They are higher than the heavens above— what can you do? They are deeper than the depths below— what can you know? Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea. Job 11: 7– 9
Almighty Father, give me the humility to accept any persecution or discomfort for your sake. The sufferings your followers experience here on earth are so small compared to what you endured for us on the cross. Help me to seek your holy perspective to look beyond myself and see the injustice of abortion as a worldwide crisis and you as the worldwide answer. I praise you for the many faithful leaders around the world whom you have lifted up to protect your innocent children in the womb. I ask this through Christ our Lord, amen.
Day 39
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3: 20– 21
Heavenly Father, you can do immeasurably more than I can ask or imagine. I offer myself to you completely, no holding back. Show me what to do, Lord. I open myself to your power at work in my life and through my life to others, as you will. Give me your strength and perseverance to do whatever you would have me do— and to do it anyway, no matter the challenges. Lord, I am willing. Amen.
Day 40
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15: 5,12,13
Heavenly Father, thank you for inviting me to join you in this great work you are doing around the world. I may not have been a “near miss” like David Arabie, but I recognise that abortion personally affects every one of us. Friends and family members have been scarred. Children have been lost. Families have been torn apart. Our cities and nations have been ravaged. Lord, I can do nothing apart from you. I lay my life down for you to use. Show me what you want me to do in response to this crisis. And may my commitment to love others— the unborn, their mothers and fathers, abortion workers, legislators and my fellow pro-life advocates— pour from my life in such a way that they are all drawn closer to you and personally experience your sacrificial love for us all. Use me, Lord, to help make this moment in history the beginning of the end of abortion. Amen.
