Part 3 - THE PROMISE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Please let us try this week to mediate on the Scriptures below and pray together for a renewal of the gifts and fruits of the Spirit in our lives.
Part 3 - THE PROMISE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Luke 11 v 9 - 13
9 And so I say to you: Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. 10 For those who ask will receive, and those who seek will find, and the door will be opened to anyone who knocks. 11 Would any of you who are fathers give your son a snake when he asks for fish? 12 Or would you give him a scorpion when he asks for an egg? 13 As bad as you are, you know how to give good things to your children. How much more, then, will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
John 14 v 25-26
25 “I have told you this while I am still with you. 26 The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and make you remember all that I have told you.
Romans 5 v 1 - 5
1 Now that we have been put right with God through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 He has brought us by faith into this experience of God's grace, in which we now live. And so we boast of the hope we have of sharing God's glory! 3 We also boast of our troubles, because we know that trouble produces endurance, 4 endurance brings God's approval, and his approval creates hope. 5 This hope does not disappoint us, for God has poured out his love into our hearts by means of the Holy Spirit, who is God's gift to us.
Lord we thank you for the free gift of the Holy Spirit.
Help us to continually ask for the gift of the Holy Spirit to help us in our lives, to sustain us in our difficulties.
May the Spirit fill us with Love and bring to our minds the truths of the Gospel and lead us to union with the Father and the Son and the Spirit.
God the Holy Spirit
Comforter and Sanctifier
Melt our hearts
That we may accept your love.
Renew our minds
That we may know your truth.
Strengthen our wills
That we may serve you faithfully.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
