Palm Sunday
Mk 11:1-10
When Jesus and his disciples drew near to Jerusalem,
to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives,
he sent two of his disciples and said to them,
“Go into the village opposite you,
and immediately on entering it,
you will find a colt tethered on which no one has ever sat.
Untie it and bring it here.
If anyone should say to you,
‘Why are you doing this?’ reply,
‘The Master has need of it
and will send it back here at once.’”
So they went off
and found a colt tethered at a gate outside on the street,
and they untied it.
Some of the bystanders said to them,
“What are you doing, untying the colt?”
They answered them just as Jesus had told them to,
and they permitted them to do it.
So they brought the colt to Jesus
and put their cloaks over it.
And he sat on it.
Many people spread their cloaks on the road,
and others spread leafy branches
that they had cut from the fields.
Those preceding him as well as those following kept crying out:
“Hosanna!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that is to come!
Hosanna in the highest!”

Mk 14:1—15:47
15 v 22-25
They brought him to the place of Golgotha
— which is translated Place of the Skull —,
They gave him wine drugged with myrrh,
but he did not take it.
Then they crucified him and divided his garments
by casting lots for them to see what each should take.
It was nine o’clock in the morning when they crucified him.

Reflection
We have two gospels today and we are presented with a stark contrast between Jesus being welcomed and hailed as the Messiah and then being rejected, humiliated and crucified.
Does this reflect the contrast in ourselves on the one hand we welcome Jesus as Our Lord and Saviour and on the other we reject Him by our sins and failure to change.
Picture
A picture of Jesus crucified, He is crying out to His Father, “ Why have you forsaken Me”.
“My children, at my Son’s words a deathly silence came over everything and everyone, for a split second, it was as though the whole Earth lost motion, with my Son’s anguished words I felt the pain of the sword enter my heart once more. My child the Son of God the Most High felt abandoned even by His Heavenly Father, my own heart knew that the Father in Heaven allowed this as all sin and despair in this moment from sinners was cast upon Him and it had to be. I could do nothing in this moment except pray and accept the Fathers Will. Jesus gave His last breath and expired.
When they placed His broken and disfigured Body in my arms I did the only thing a mother could do I cleaned and kissed His wounds just I as used to clean and kiss Him when a child. Darkness seemed all around, but quietly slowly a ball of light grew within me and seemed to speak to me deep within, the world around started to become light again and I knew deep within this light the certitude that my Son would rise on the third day, hope enveloped me and sustained me. Will you my children come watch with me and see with the eyes of faith the victory over death and all its works that my Son Jesus has obtained for each of you, My children this is the fulfilment of your heritage, new life and life in abundance bought and paid for by ‘The Prince of Peace’.
Amen.
Mary."

NOVENA TO ST ANTHONY
St Anthony I resort to thy protection and aid and as proof of my affection and faith, I offer this candle which shall burn every Tuesday.
Comfort me in my difficulties and through the lodgings in the House of my Saviour intercede for me and my family so that we may always hold God in our hearts and be provided for in our necessities. I beseech thee St Anthony to have infinite pity in regards to the favour I ask of thee.

mention favour
Please help me to overcome all difficulties I now leave at your feet.
Say 3 x Our Fathers 3 x Hail Marys 3 x Glory Be----
This is said for 9 Tuesdays in succession and each Tuesday a candle shall be lit and a copy of this prayer left in church to help another soul in distress and increase the devotion to St Anthony.
This miraculous Saint grants everything, no matter how difficult, before the termination of the 9 Tuesdays.
It is not necessary to go to Church every Tuesday except the first Tuesday to leave copies. The other 8 Tuesdays can be said at home lighting the candle and said with faith.
