Theotokos Prayer Group 2021 Update No.11 - Fifth Sunday of Lent

Fifth Sunday of Lent

John 12:20-33
20 Now among those who went up to worship at the festival were some Greeks. 21 They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and said to him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” 22 Philip went and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. 23 Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. 25 Those who love their life lose it, and those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there will my servant be also. Whoever serves me, the Father will honour.
27 “Now my soul is troubled. And what should I say—‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it is for this reason that I have come to this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.” 29 The crowd standing there heard it and said that it was thunder. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.” 30 Jesus answered, “This voice has come for your sake, not for mine. 31 Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out. 32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” 33 He said this to indicate the kind of death he was to die.

Reflection

Jesus explains that His hour has come, the time for Him to be glorified but His path to glory is one that involves a complete dying to self, suffering, ignominy and death. Yet through this His Father will ultimately give Him glory through the Resurrection.
By that Resurrection the kingdom of Satan and death are defeated and all of us who are willing to accept Him as Lord and Saviour and serve Him there is a share in His new life.

Reflection Questions

Are we willing to serve the Lord?
Have we fully accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour of our wholes selves?
Are we willing to accept hardships and suffering?

Picture

A picture of Jesus approaching Golgotha, Our Blessed Mother is in the crowd and tries to get closer to Him, as she nears to Him, she sees Jesus with tears flowing.

“My children, the pain in my Heart to witness my Son Jesus stripped of all dignity and shaking with shock was nearly unbearable. I tried to enclose Him in my Heart and shelter Him in my motherly love, I could see Him looking to the horizon and coming towards Him were all the poor souls who would be saved by His torture in His Calvary, but also coming towards Him were many more poor souls who would not be saved and my Son’s tears flowed copiously for them, He who was shedding His Blood even unto death prepared for Him on a Cross. The tears caused by the ache of His love for all His people, then in my own motherly Heart I could hear my Son say “Come back to Me My people, turn to Me, come bathe in the tears of My love and your sins will be forgiven and you will be with Me in Paradise”.
Then the soldiers led Him away to crucify Him, my little ones stand with me for I cannot be on my own and witness what is to come on my own, the death of my Son Jesus, Come pray with me, expiate with me, come wrap your love around His Heart, and help comfort my Son whom is struck down for love of souls.
Mary."
