Gospel
Luke 21:5-19
The destruction of the Temple foretold
When some were talking about the Temple, remarking how it was adorned with fine stonework and votive offerings, Jesus said, ‘All these things you are staring at now – the time will come when not a single stone will be left on another: everything will be destroyed.’ And they put to him this question: ‘Master,’ they said ‘when will this happen, then, and what sign will there be that this is about to take place?’
‘Take care not to be deceived,’ he said ‘because many will come using my name and saying, “I am he” and, “The time is near at hand.” Refuse to join them. And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened, for this is something that must happen but the end is not so soon.’ Then he said to them, ‘Nation will fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes and plagues and famines here and there; there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.
‘But before all this happens, men will seize you and persecute you; they will hand you over to the synagogues and to imprisonment, and bring you before kings and governors because of my name – and that will be your opportunity to bear witness. Keep this carefully in mind: you are not to prepare your defence, because I myself shall give you an eloquence and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to resist or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relations and friends; and some of you will be put to death. You will be hated by all men on account of my name, but not a hair of your head will be lost. Your endurance will win you your lives.’
Lord give us the strength to endure all the difficult circumstances we encounter in our hearts, our families and the World around us.
Strengthen us to be witnesses to You.
Amen
Notes from meeting 8 November 2022
Picture
A picture of Blessed Mother crowned as Queen of Heaven.
Many people could hear her Immaculate Heart beating for love of them, the people responded by running towards her, suddenly a fiery serpent breathed out smoke obscuring Blessed Mother, people ran one way then another not able to reach her. The people began to pray "Mother help us" and the smoke cleared and the fiery serpent was crushed under her little foot.
"My little ones, when in any adversity especially when caused by the evil one, run to My Immaculate Heart there I will keep you safe for I am your Loving Mother who desires always to nurture you and lead you to My Son, He who died upon His Cross willingly to give you new life, life in abundance, Come to My Immaculate Heart there I will school you and teach you the way to My Son Jesus, do not fear for if you have faith all will be well. My adversary sends out arrows but although My Heart is tender and meek, it is also impenetrable to the evil one and so if you run to My Heart no harm can come to you, come and seek sanctuary and I will teach you to become little children of the Heart of Jesus.
Mary"

Daniel 3 v 88-90
88 “Bless the Lord, Hananiah, Azariah, and Mishael;
sing praise to him and highly exalt him forever.
For he has rescued us from Hades and saved us from the power of death, and delivered us from the midst of the burning fiery furnace; from the midst of the fire he has delivered us.
89 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his mercy endures forever.
90 All who worship the Lord, bless the God of gods,
sing praise to him and give thanks to him,
for his mercy endures forever.”

An Update from the CDSC November 2022
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
We look back on our first Vicariate event, “You are my beloved child” on 22 October 2022, with great appreciation for all those in the Cleveland and South Durham Vicariate for helping to make this such a special opportunity to come closer to our Blessed Lord and be more open to His Holy Spirit. Drawing on our experience of working in partnership with the Bethany Prayer Group, we look forward to working with new partners as we plan our next event in the Northumberland Vicariate. If you are in the Northumberland Vicariate, involved with Charismatic Renewal, and would like to contribute to the planning please let us know on charis@diocesehn.org.uk. Please pray for the success of this next event.
A new bespoke training programme for those involved in ministries of healing.
The Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle is offering a new bespoke training course for those called to accompany people seeking healing. The revised format of the programme focuses on a Catholic, holistic understanding of what it means to be healed exploring the role of the Sacraments, the prayer life of the Church and the power of the Holy Spirit. It gives a grounding in Scripture alongside practical and spiritual training in the art of accompanying and praying with others. It offers good practice guidelines concerning safeguarding and boundaries and helps individuals discern whether this is what God asks of them. More details are available here.
Save the date
Following this year’s experience of hosting a Mass for Pentecost at St Mary’s Cathedral, Newcastle, we are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a Pentecostal Mass next year at the Cathedral again on Saturday 13th May 2023 at 1:00 pm. More details nearer the time.
CDSC Newsletter
We are gathering content again for our next newsletter. Please let us know about any opportunities for people to be more open to the Holy Spirit that you would like us to include under “News from the Diocese”.
Congratulations!
Congratulations to Pat Kennedy who has been active in promoting Charismatic Renewal for many years, for being awarded a Papal Medal for her services to the Diocese. The medal will be presented at St Mary’s Cathedral at 10:00 am on Saturday 17th December 2022.
CDSC Team Conference
I and Frank O’Neill will shortly have the privilege of attending a CDSC Team Conference gathering on 19th and 20th November in Northampton. Bishop David Oakley and the CHARIS Coordinating Team for England & Wales will be sharing an update and discussing with Coordinators from across England & Wales how we are to take the mission of CHARIS to the next level in each Diocese. Please pray for the success of this gathering.
Finally, please pray for the soul of Betty McGurk. Betty was active in promoting Charismatic Renewal from the early days. We take great comfort in knowing that Betty will be praying for us and cheering us on.
God bless,
John
