Alleluia, alleluia!
The Word was made flesh and lived among us:
to all who did accept him
he gave power to become children of God.
Alleluia!
Gospel: Mark 6:1-6
'A prophet is only despised in his own country'
Jesus went to his home town and his disciples accompanied him. With the coming of the sabbath he began teaching in the synagogue and most of them were astonished when they heard him. They said, ‘Where did the man get all this? What is this wisdom that has been granted him, and these miracles that are worked through him? This is the carpenter, surely, the son of Mary, the brother of James and Joset and Jude and Simon? His sisters, too, are they not here with us?’ And they would not accept him. And Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is only despised in his own country, among his own relations and in his own house’; and he could work no miracle there, though he cured a few sick people by laying his hands on them. He was amazed at their lack of faith.
Lord increase our faith in You!
Notes from meeting on 2 July 2024
Picture
Picture of Our Blessed Mother gathering her children to her, then making a journey in the dark of night through the desert.
She has placed her Mantle over her children to cover them so they can’t be seen, together they travel and she is the guiding light.
Darkness recedes and they arrive at an Oasis which is cool, verdant and with many shady trees.
Jesus comes to greet His Mother and His People, bringing fresh bread and wine to feed them.
He blesses the Bread and Wine and all are satisfied and strengthened with the food and so the journey continues.
"My dear children,
When you turn to me your Mother, I will always protect and guide you on your life’s journey to my Son, Jesus. When darkness abounds come under my Mantle of Peace, and you will find protection and respite, do no be afraid. Just as St Joseph and I protected baby Jesus when we escaped from Herod, so shall my Mantle protect you all that is not of God, together we will journey to my Son, Jesus for He is the only Way the only Truth and the only Life that will satisfy.
Do not be afraid, your Mother stands with you!
Mary"
Zephaniah 3 v 14 - 20
14 Sing, Daughter Zion;
shout aloud, Israel!
Be glad and rejoice with all your heart,
Daughter Jerusalem!
15 The Lord has taken away your punishment,
he has turned back your enemy.
The Lord, the King of Israel, is with you;
never again will you fear any harm.
16 On that day
they will say to Jerusalem,
“Do not fear, Zion;
do not let your hands hang limp.
17 The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.”
18 “I will remove from you
all who mourn over the loss of your appointed festivals,
which is a burden and reproach for you.
19 At that time I will deal
with all who oppressed you.
I will rescue the lame;
I will gather the exiles.
I will give them praise and honour
in every land where they have suffered shame.
20 At that time I will gather you;
at that time I will bring you home.
I will give you honour and praise
among all the peoples of the earth
when I restore your fortunes
before your very eyes,”
says the Lord.
Beneath your mantle we take refuge O Mother of God
Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms, help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus.
This we pray, Amen.
